Huawei E5180 is a home-office wireless router for 4G LTE Network, with a special VoIP port.

It’s produced in China, designed by Huawei the E5180 LTE router is capable of 2G, 3G and 4G LTE wireless technologies plus one VoIP ‘Plain, Ordinary, Telephone’ port (POTs).

Huawei E5180 allows up to 32 wireless devices to access internet.

It’s a Category 4 LTE Router so it’s pretty fast, depending on received signal strength and location within the building to your Wi-Fi connected devices. Download speeds can be up to 150mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps, again depending on signal and location. The good news is this unit will support up to 32 devices so its possible to use this as your sole home or small office connection.  If you think 32 devices is a lot then have a quick check on what you’re running, prepare to be surprised!

The one RJ45 outlet means it can be connected to an existing swtich providing instant Internet access across the network or just once computer if you are home-working.

The smaller RJ11 outlet can be programmed by Portel to be used by a standard analogue phone, for instance using this at home you could have an existing ‘POTs’ phone plugged in that rings with your office phone number (don’t have one, not a problem, Portel provide numbers too). Take and make calls using your office number from anywhere with power and a 4G signal.

The SIM required (not supplied) is the micro size, these units are open to most networks. Portel tend to use the 3 Mobile network as they offer a good deal on unlimited minutes and DATA, Superdrug also offer a PAYGo sim but its up to you, once the card is inserted and the unit switched on it will set up and self-configure for the network installed.
